The synth-pop/disco group Stop was the brainchild of Bijan Dokhanian, a local entrepreneur and musician who connected with his good friend Danny Rodriguez while he worked at JDC Records in San Pedro, California - an important record distributor during the golden years of dance music (1976-1990). Danny introduced L.A. DJ Martin Rodriguez to Bijan and the three of them collaborated and recorded a very raw version of a dance track entitled "Wake Up." When Martin played the tape of the track at his club Fantasia, it was an instant hit. "Wake Up" went on to become an international dance smash, and was awarded the Billboard Magazine "Independent Video Of The Year" in 1985. Enter the Crescent Street Hustlers, proven experts on all things disco, who decided to record a new version of the beloved hit for their latest full-length album in which they reconstruct several of their favorite dance classics from the golden era. Presented here is the single version of "Wake Up," which includes the album version of the track plus an exclusive radio mix - destined to become a huge hit all over again.
